Personal highlights for Niykee include being selected by a scout to join Snoop in the YouTube Brandcast, in May 2013, and writing songs despite all the turmoil in the last couple of years. Now a magnet for up-and-coming producers she constantly combs through beats sent her way and finds that many end up sparking song ideas. In just five seconds, I'm able to tell whether a track is good or not. Then I get an idea of the song and write it right away. While I play the guitar outside on my porch I begin writing, and words flow. A majority times, it's completed in just 30 minutes. Niykee states that, as she matures as a singer-songwriter her painful memories from her childhood are an inspiration. My experience of pain as a child as a child and that of losing my sibling is evident in my lyrics, even when they are not literal. The memories influence my songs and helps to create this greater understanding behind all things that's among the most significant things that I value. It is important to me to realize that I could hear any of my songs in 20 years down the road and be happy with what I had to say.
