Dua Lipa is an English singer-songwriter was born in London on 22 August 1995. The self-titled debut album was released in 2017, after she signed with Warner Bros Records. It peaked in at the third spot in the U.K. albums chart and had eight singles, including the U.K. top-ten single New Rules and Be the One I.D.G.A.F. Lipa received the Brit Award in 2018 as a British Female Soloist as well as British Breakthrough Artist. The album has been certified platinum across a variety of nations. She is the daughter of Kosovo Albanian parents Anesa Rexha and Dukagjin Lipa. She has Bosnian descent through her maternal grandmother. Her family tree can be traced back to the Kosovo town of Peja. The two grandfathers of Lipa were historians. They have a brother Gjin Lipa, and a younger sister Rina. Her father, a musician and lead singer from the Kosovan group Oda was a major influence on her music. At home her father continued playing music which included his original compositions as well as songs from David Bowie Bob Dylan Radiohead Sting The Police and Stereophonics. Lipa began singing at age five. At the age of nineteen she began singing at Sylvia Young Theater School. Lipa was featured on the hit song If I'm Gone You with Alicia Keys, and Beautiful Christina Aguilera. Lipa's record contract signed with Warner Bros. Records was signed in 2014. The first single she released was New Love was released in August 2015.
